Job Description
This program is available to recent law school graduates (calendar year 2024 or 2025) who have been admitted to the bar and are currently employed in a judicial clerkship that will conclude by October 2026. Qualifying experience for the EL/GS-11 level includes: Basic Requirement for Attorney positions: All applicants must possess: J.D. or LL.B. degree --AND- Active membership of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the EL/GS-09 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position. EL/GS-11 level specialized experience include: A federal or state judicial clerkship after law school in which the candidate gained experience researching, analyzing, and drafting legal memoranda and other related documents. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
