Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) is recruiting an HSE & Environmental Legal Adviser for its Seria headquarters. The role involves advising on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulatory compliance for BSP's onshore and offshore petroleum operations, a critical function in Brunei's largest energy company.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with the Environmental Protection and Management Order 2016 for all BSP operations
• Handle environmental impact assessment (EIA) requirements and approvals for new exploration and development projects
• Advise on the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009 and HSE incident reporting obligations
• Manage environmental permits, waste management compliance, and pollution prevention programmes
• Coordinate with Shell's global HSE legal team on international best practices and standards
• Handle environmental litigation and regulatory enforcement matters

• Lead HSE legal compliance for BSP's operations
• Manage environmental permitting and regulatory approvals
• Advise on HSE incident response and regulatory enforcement

• Qualified lawyer admitted in Brunei, Malaysia, UK, or Australia
• 6-12 years of experience in environmental law, HSE compliance, or energy regulatory work
• Law degree from a recognised university; specialisation in environmental law preferred
• Knowledge of Brunei's environmental legislation and the Environmental Protection and Management Order 2016
• Experience in the oil and gas sector is highly valued
• Fluent in English; Malay is an advantage
