IP & Brand Protection Attorney — IBL Group

IBL Group seeks an Intellectual Property & Brand Protection Attorney for its Group Legal Division at IBL House, Caudan, Port Louis. IBL's extensive portfolio of brands — spanning Princes Tuna, Eagle Insurance, BlueLife real estate, and over 100 distribution brands — requires dedicated IP management and enforcement in Mauritius and across the Indian Ocean region.

The Attorney will manage IBL's trademark portfolio at the Industrial Property Office of Mauritius, handle IP licensing and distribution agreements, enforce IP rights against counterfeit goods, and advise on data protection compliance under the Data Protection Act 2017. The role combines portfolio management with commercial IP advisory across IBL's extraordinarily diverse business empire.

• Manage IBL Group's trademark portfolio including filings, renewals, and oppositions at the Industrial Property Office
• Draft and negotiate IP licensing, distribution, and franchise agreements
• Enforce IP rights and manage anti-counterfeiting actions in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean
• Advise on Data Protection Act 2017 compliance across IBL's subsidiaries
• Handle IP due diligence for M&A transactions and brand acquisitions
• Develop IP protection strategies for new product launches and market entries

• Attorney admitted by the Mauritius Bar Council with 3–6 years' post-admission experience
• Knowledge of Mauritius IP legislation including the Patents, Industrial Designs and Trademarks Act 2002
• Experience with trademark prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement
• Understanding of the Data Protection Act 2017 and data privacy compliance
• Familiarity with distribution agreements, licensing, and franchise law
• LL.B. from a recognised institution; IP law specialisation preferred
• English fluency required; French proficiency advantageous
