Job Description
The Banco de Guatemala, the country's central bank, is seeking a Legal Analyst for its Legal Department in Guatemala City. You will draft regulations, analyse monetary policy instruments, and provide legal opinions on the Junta Monetaria's resolutions and the Ley Organica del Banco de Guatemala.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft legal opinions on Junta Monetaria resolutions and central bank regulations
- Analyse the legal framework governing monetary policy instruments and foreign exchange
- Review proposed financial sector legislation and provide technical comments
- Advise on the Banco de Guatemala's international obligations and treaty compliance
- Support the legal department on institutional governance and administrative matters
Responsibilities
- Draft regulatory instruments and legal memoranda for the Junta Monetaria
- Coordinate with the SIB on supervisory legal matters
- Maintain the legal department's regulatory database
- Attend inter-institutional meetings with financial regulators
Requirements
- Licenciatura en Ciencias Juridicas y Sociales from a recognised university
- Colegiado activo with the Colegio de Abogados y Notarios de Guatemala
- 3-5 years experience in financial regulation, banking law, or public sector legal work
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Knowledge of the Ley Organica del Banco de Guatemala and Ley Monetaria
