Job Description

Legal Counsel – Offshore Wind Project Development

Ørsted in the Hellerup business district near Copenhagen is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Offshore Wind Project Development legal team. Ørsted has constructed more offshore wind capacity than any other company in the world, and Denmark continues to expand its offshore wind ambitions with energy island projects in the North Sea.

You will provide legal support throughout the lifecycle of offshore wind projects, from seabed lease and permitting through construction, commissioning, and operation.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on offshore wind project permitting, including Energistyrelsen and Danish Environmental Protection Agency approvals
  • Draft and negotiate EPC contracts, turbine supply agreements, and balance of plant contracts
  • Handle seabed lease agreements and grid connection arrangements with Energinet
  • Advise on project finance, including non-recourse financing and green bond structuring
  • Negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with corporate and utility off-takers
  • Advise on joint venture structures for co-invested wind farm projects

Responsibilities

  • Provide project development legal advisory from permitting through commissioning
  • Draft and negotiate construction and supply agreements
  • Support project finance transactions and JV structuring
  • Handle regulatory interactions for project approvals
  • Coordinate with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions

Requirements

  • Cand.jur. from a Danish university or equivalent qualification
  • 4-7 years of experience in energy law, project finance, or infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Danish energy regulation and offshore wind permitting
  • Fluent in English; Danish is preferred
  • Experience with EPC contracts and project finance structures
  • Understanding of offshore wind technology and development process is an advantage
