Legal Counsel — Retail Banking & Consumer Credit

Handelsbanken is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its Central Sweden regional operations from Uppsala, home to Sweden's oldest university and a growing financial services hub. You will provide legal advice on retail banking products, mortgage lending, and consumer credit compliance under konsumentkreditlagen (Consumer Credit Act) and distansavtalslagen (Distance Contracts Act).

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on mortgage lending compliance under lagen om bank- och finansieringsrörelse and Finansinspektionen's amortisation requirements (FFFS 2016:16)
• Handle consumer credit product terms under konsumentkreditlagen (Consumer Credit Act, SFS 2010:1846)
• Advise on distansavtalslagen (Distance Contracts Act) compliance for digital banking products
• Support Konsumentverket (Consumer Agency) and Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN — National Board for Consumer Disputes) complaint handling

Requirements

• Swedish juristexamen; 3-5 years PQE in banking, consumer credit, or financial regulation
• Knowledge of konsumentkreditlagen, FI amortisation rules, and banking legislation
• Experience with retail/consumer banking legal matters preferred
• Fluent in Swedish and English
