Legal Officer — Union Attorney General's Office
The Union Attorney General's Office in Naypyidaw is recruiting Legal Officers to support the government's legal advisory and legislative drafting functions. Successful candidates will join the UAGO's team of legal professionals responsible for advising Union Government ministries, drafting legislation for the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, and representing the state in civil proceedings.
This role involves researching comparative law for legislative reform, drafting legal opinions on constitutional matters, and coordinating with Region and State Advocate General offices. Legal Officers also participate in international legal cooperation programs and ASEAN legal harmonization initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Draft legal opinions and advisory memoranda for Union Government ministries
- Assist with legislative drafting for Pyidaungsu Hluttaw consideration
- Represent the state in civil proceedings before Myanmar courts
- Conduct comparative legal research for law reform initiatives
- Coordinate with Region and State Advocate General offices
- Participate in international legal cooperation and ASEAN programs
Requirements
- LL.B. from University of Yangon, Dagon University, University of Mandalay, or equivalent
- Passed the Advocate examination and registered with the Myanmar Bar Council
- 2-5 years of legal experience; government service experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of the 2008 Constitution and Myanmar statutory framework
- Research and legislative drafting skills
- Proficiency in Myanmar; English proficiency required for international cooperation
- Myanmar citizenship required
