Clyde & Co's Doha office is recruiting a Marine & Insurance Associate to support our world-renowned marine and insurance practice. Qatar's strategic location on the Arabian Gulf and its position as the world's top LNG exporter create significant demand for marine, cargo, and energy insurance legal expertise. You will handle claims and coverage disputes arising from Qatar's maritime and energy operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle marine cargo claims, hull and machinery disputes, and P&I club matters for vessels operating in the Arabian Gulf
• Advise on insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes for energy sector clients
• Draft and review marine insurance policies, placing slips, and policy wordings
• Support LNG tanker charterparty disputes and bill of lading claims
• Advise on Qatar's Maritime Law and international maritime conventions
• Handle subrogation recovery actions before Qatar courts and arbitration tribunals

• Manage a caseload of marine and insurance disputes
• Prepare legal opinions on policy coverage under Qatar law
• Coordinate with surveyors, loss adjusters, and expert witnesses
• Advise on regulatory compliance with Qatar Central Bank insurance regulations
• Support business development initiatives for the marine and insurance practice

• 3-5 years PQE in marine, insurance, or energy law
• Experience with cargo claims, hull and machinery disputes, or P&I matters
• Knowledge of international maritime conventions (Hague-Visby Rules, Hamburg Rules)
• Common law qualification (England & Wales, Australia, or equivalent)
• Strong analytical and drafting skills in English
• Experience working with Lloyd's market or international insurers preferred
