Job Description

Projects & Infrastructure Senior Associate

Pinsent Masons' Doha office, located in the Qatar Financial Centre, is recruiting a Projects & Infrastructure Senior Associate. You will advise on major infrastructure and PPP projects across Qatar, working at the intersection of construction, project finance, and government procurement. Qatar's investment in smart city infrastructure, transport networks, and industrial zones creates significant demand for this expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on PPP (Public-Private Partnership) structures and government procurement under Qatar's Public Procurement Law
  • Draft and negotiate project finance documentation including facility agreements, security packages, and direct agreements
  • Handle FIDIC-based EPC contracts for major infrastructure projects in Lusail and the Qatar Free Zones
  • Advise on BOT, BOOT, and concession agreements for utilities and transport infrastructure
  • Support dispute avoidance and claims management on complex multi-party projects
  • Advise on environmental and social governance (ESG) requirements for infrastructure projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead project advisory mandates from structuring through to financial close
  • Coordinate with lenders' counsel and government advisors on project documentation
  • Manage project risk allocation between sponsors, contractors, and government
  • Deliver training and publications on Qatar infrastructure law developments
  • Contribute to the growth of Pinsent Masons' Qatar practice

Requirements

  • 6-9 years PQE in projects, infrastructure, or construction law
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and project finance documentation
  • Experience with PPP or concession structures in the Middle East preferred
  • Common law qualification (England & Wales, Australia, or equivalent)
  • Excellent English drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience advising government entities or sovereign clients advantageous
