Senior Associate — International Trade & Sanctions

Baker McKenzie Stockholm is seeking a Senior Associate for its International Trade & Sanctions practice. Sweden is a major export nation with companies like Ericsson, Volvo, Sandvik, and Atlas Copco operating globally. You will advise on EU sanctions compliance, export controls (dual-use regulation), customs, and trade defence from the firm's Vasagatan 7 office, leveraging Baker McKenzie's unmatched global trade network.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise Swedish exporters on EU sanctions regimes, including Russia/Belarus sanctions packages and compliance screening
• Handle Inspektionen för strategiska produkter (ISP — Swedish export controls authority) licensing for dual-use goods and military equipment
• Advise on EU Customs Code compliance, tariff classification, and free trade agreement utilisation
• Conduct sanctions due diligence for M&A transactions and supply chain screening
• Represent clients in Tullverket (Swedish Customs) audits and investigations

Requirements

• Swedish juristexamen or international law degree; 5-8 years PQE in trade, sanctions, or regulatory
• Deep knowledge of EU sanctions regulations, EU Dual-Use Regulation (2021/821), and ISP requirements
• Experience advising Swedish industrial/tech exporters preferred
• Fluent in English; Swedish highly valued
