Job Description
Mogo Kenya Limited, a digital lending and vehicle financing company, is seeking a Senior Legal Officer to lead its legal function. The role involves managing the legal and compliance framework, handling regulatory matters with the Central Bank, overseeing litigation, and ensuring the company's lending products comply with all applicable regulations. Mogo operates across multiple African markets including Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Responsibilities
Manage the company's legal and regulatory compliance framework. Handle regulatory engagement with the Central Bank of Kenya and other supervisory bodies. Oversee litigation, debt recovery, and dispute resolution across the portfolio. Draft and review loan agreements, facility letters, and security documents. Advise on data protection, consumer protection, and anti-money laundering compliance. Manage external counsel and control legal costs.
Requirements
LLB degree from a recognized university. Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate. Minimum 5 years post-admission experience, ideally in financial services or fintech. Strong knowledge of banking regulations, consumer lending laws, and CBK compliance requirements. Experience with digital lending platforms and PAYG financing is preferred.
