Job Description
CMS Sofia is looking for a Tax Law Senior Associate to join its tax advisory team. The role focuses on advising Bulgarian and international clients on corporate taxation, transfer pricing, VAT, and tax-efficient structuring of investments and transactions. CMS's global network provides exposure to cross-border tax planning and multinational tax disputes, making this an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious tax practitioner.
Responsibilities
Advising on corporate tax structuring for domestic and foreign investments; Preparing transfer pricing documentation and defending positions before the NRA; Advising on VAT treatment of complex transactions and cross-border supplies; Supporting M&A transactions with tax due diligence and post-acquisition restructurings; Advising on tax implications of real estate transactions and investment vehicles; Representing clients in tax audits, appeals, and administrative court proceedings; Monitoring Bulgarian and EU tax legislative developments and advising on compliance.
Requirements
Master's degree in Law with specialization in tax law or LL.M. in taxation; Admission to the Sofia Bar Association with minimum 5 years of tax law experience; Deep knowledge of the Corporate Income Tax Act, VAT Act, Local Taxes and Fees Act, and Tax-Insurance Procedure Code; Experience with transfer pricing documentation and international tax treaties; Knowledge of EU tax directives (ATAD, DAC6, Pillar Two); Fluent English; Proactive approach and strong advisory skills.
