Internship Description
The Central Bank of Bahrain offers a paid 6-month Legal Internship within its Legal Affairs Directorate in the Diplomatic Area, Manama. This internship provides exposure to financial regulation, supervisory law, and central banking legal operations.
Programme Details
- Duration: 6 months
- Stipend: BHD 250-400 per month
- Start: Rolling applications — biannual intake (January and July)
- Eligibility: Final-year LLB students or recent graduates with an interest in financial regulation
What You Will Learn
- Research CBB regulatory frameworks including the CBB Rulebook and AML legislation
- Assist with drafting regulatory circulars and consultation papers
- Observe licensing review processes for financial institutions
- Support the legal team on FATF and MENAFATF compliance projects
Responsibilities
- Research and summarise legal issues for senior counsel
- Maintain the Legal Affairs Directorate's regulatory database
- Prepare summaries of new legislation and CBB Board decisions
- Assist with administrative and filing tasks
Requirements
- LLB student (final year) or recent LLB graduate
- Bahraini national (preference given under Bahrainisation)
- Bilingual in Arabic and English
- Interest in financial regulation and central banking
- Strong research and analytical skills
