About the Internship
The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) offers a 3-month paid internship within its Legal and Regulatory Affairs division. This programme provides law students and recent graduates with first-hand experience in financial regulation, compliance supervision, and central banking law within one of the GCC's most important financial regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the legal team in reviewing regulatory submissions from licensed financial institutions
- Research international regulatory standards including Basel III, FATF guidelines, and IOSCO principles
- Draft internal memoranda on proposed amendments to Bahrain's financial regulations
- Support the compliance monitoring team in reviewing institutional reporting requirements
- Attend regulatory committee meetings and take detailed minutes
- Help maintain the CBB's regulatory database and legal reference materials
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an LLB, LLM, or equivalent legal qualification
- Strong interest in banking law, financial regulation, or compliance
- Excellent analytical and research skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are highly desirable
- Understanding of Bahrain's financial sector is an advantage
