Internship Description

About the Internship

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) offers a 3-month paid internship within its Legal and Regulatory Affairs division. This programme provides law students and recent graduates with first-hand experience in financial regulation, compliance supervision, and central banking law within one of the GCC's most important financial regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the legal team in reviewing regulatory submissions from licensed financial institutions
  • Research international regulatory standards including Basel III, FATF guidelines, and IOSCO principles
  • Draft internal memoranda on proposed amendments to Bahrain's financial regulations
  • Support the compliance monitoring team in reviewing institutional reporting requirements
  • Attend regulatory committee meetings and take detailed minutes
  • Help maintain the CBB's regulatory database and legal reference materials

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an LLB, LLM, or equivalent legal qualification
  • Strong interest in banking law, financial regulation, or compliance
  • Excellent analytical and research skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are highly desirable
  • Understanding of Bahrain's financial sector is an advantage
