Job Description
A&O Shearman Bratislava is seeking an Associate specializing in Data Protection and GDPR compliance. You will advise clients on GDPR implementation, cross-border data transfers, and proceedings before the Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov (Slovak Data Protection Authority) from our Bratislava office.
This role involves conducting data protection impact assessments, drafting data processing agreements, and advising on the interplay between GDPR and Slovak sector-specific regulations. You will work with A&O Shearman's global data protection team on multinational compliance projects affecting the Slovak market.
Responsibilities
Conduct GDPR compliance assessments for multinational clients operating in Slovakia. Draft and negotiate data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses. Advise on cross-border data transfers and Schrems II compliance. Prepare data protection impact assessments under Slovak and EU law. Support clients in proceedings before the Slovak Data Protection Authority. Develop data protection policies and employee training programs.
Requirements
Slovak law degree (Mgr.) with 2-4 years of data protection or technology law experience. CIPP/E certification preferred. Expert knowledge of GDPR and Zákon o ochrane osobných údajov (Slovak Data Protection Act). Experience with cross-border data transfer mechanisms and DPIAs. Fluent Slovak and English.
