About this role:

The Head of Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Oncology Business Unit (OBU) and US Business Unit (USBU) serves as the senior E&C leader and strategic advisor to both organizations. As a member of the Global E&C Leadership Team, this leader partners closely with executive leadership to integrate ethics and compliance into commercial strategy, medical affairs, market access, and business operations while helping the organization anticipate risk, enable innovation, and deliver sustainable business performance with integrity. This role enables responsible business growth by embedding ethics and compliance into business strategy, decision-making, and execution through practical, risk-based guidance and trusted partnership.

How you will contribute:

  • Serve as the primary Ethics & Compliance advisor to OBU and USBU leadership, providing practical, risk-based guidance that enables responsible business decisions.
  • Build trusted partnerships with senior leaders by integrating ethics and compliance into strategic planning, commercial execution, product launches, market access, and other key business initiatives.
  • Coach and influence leaders to strengthen ethical decision-making, reinforce accountability, and promote a culture where integrity is fundamental to business success.
  • Champion Takeda's ethical decision-making framework and patient-first culture across both business units.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous evolution of the Ethics & Compliance program across OBU and USBU.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage compliance risks using practical, risk-based approaches aligned with business priorities.
  • Provide strategic guidance on complex commercial, medical, and market access activities while enabling timely business execution.
  • Promote consistent interpretation and application of company policies, industry standards, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate emerging regulatory developments and industry trends into practical guidance for business leaders.
  • Partner across the Ethics & Compliance organization to deliver coordinated enterprise solutions and effectively manage compliance risks.
  • Champion the use of AI, automation, analytics, and digital capabilities that strengthen business partnership and improve the effectiveness of Ethics & Compliance.
  • Simplify governance, processes, and ways of working while maintaining appropriate risk management.
  • Partner with Compliance Operations & Enablement to continuously improve technology, tools, and service delivery.
  • Serve as an active member of the Global Ethics & Compliance Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise strategy, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong partnerships across business units and enterprise functions, representing the perspectives of OBU and USBU while advancing enterprise priorities and sharing leading practices.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing Ethics & Compliance team recognized for business partnership, sound judgment, and execution.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture grounded in integrity, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Develop future leaders and strengthen organizational capability across the Ethics & Compliance function.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, or related experience, including significant leadership responsibility within complex, global, highly regulated organizations.
  • Extensive in-house Ethics & Compliance leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a demonstrated track record of partnering with senior business leaders to enable responsible growth while effectively managing regulatory and reputational risk.
  • Deep expertise in pharmaceutical Ethics & Compliance, including U.S. healthcare laws, regulations, industry codes, and ethical business practices.
  • Demonstrated experience advising executive leadership and Boards of Directors on ethics, compliance, governance, enterprise risk, and complex business decisions, with the business acumen to align compliance priorities with corporate strategy.
  • Proven success partnering with Commercial, Medical, Market Access, and other business functions to provide practical, risk-based guidance that advances business objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting product launches, lifecycle management, and other strategic initiatives within a global pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
  • Proven success leading organizational transformation, building and scaling high-performing teams, and developing future leaders.
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), technology, automation, analytics, and digital capabilities to modernize Ethics & Compliance programs and improve business outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders, build trusted relationships across stakeholder groups, and communicate complex issues with clarity, credibility, and impact.
  • Experience operating effectively across global organizations, diverse cultures, and complex matrixed environments.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$320,000.00 - $440,000.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
