Job Description
Infrastructure and Construction Associate — Mori Hamada & Matsumoto Myanmar
Join our Infrastructure and Construction practice in Yangon. This role focuses on advising on major infrastructure projects across Myanmar including roads, bridges, power plants, and telecommunications infrastructure. You will work on government procurement documentation, EPC contracts, and FIDIC-based construction agreements.
The position involves close coordination with Myanmar government ministries, JICA-funded projects, and multilateral development bank–financed initiatives. You will advise on the Myanmar Construction Contractors Registration Rules, environmental permits, and land acquisition procedures for infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate EPC contracts, subcontracts, and supply agreements
- Advise on FIDIC-based construction contracts and dispute resolution
- Support government procurement and tendering processes
- Handle land acquisition and environmental permit matters for projects
- Coordinate with multilateral development banks on project documentation
- Research Myanmar construction regulations and contractor licensing requirements
Requirements
- LL.B. from a recognized university
- 2-4 years of construction, infrastructure, or project law experience
- Knowledge of FIDIC contract forms and EPC agreements
- Understanding of Myanmar government procurement procedures
- Experience with development bank–financed projects (ADB, World Bank, JICA)
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Bilingual in Myanmar and English
