Job Description

Junior Associate – Litigation & Disputes at Wardyński & Partners

Wardyński & Partners is seeking a Junior Associate for our Litigation & Disputes team. Located near Plac Trzech Krzyży in central Warsaw, our disputes practice handles complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and regulatory enforcement matters. The firm is known for handling landmark cases before the Sąd Najwyższy (Supreme Court).

About the Role

As a Junior Associate, you will assist senior lawyers in all stages of commercial litigation before Polish common courts (sądy powszechne) — from the Sąd Rejonowy through Sąd Okręgowy to Sąd Apelacyjny. The role involves drafting pleadings (pozwy, odpowiedzi na pozew, apelacje) under the Kodeks postępowania cywilnego (Code of Civil Procedure), conducting legal research, and attending hearings.

You will also support the team on international arbitration matters (ICC, SCC, Sąd Arbitrażowy przy KIG) and administrative litigation before the Wojewódzki Sąd Administracyjny w Warszawie (WSA) and Naczelny Sąd Administracyjny (NSA). This is an excellent starting position for a newly qualified lawyer seeking comprehensive disputes experience.

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda for commercial litigation proceedings
  • Conduct legal research on substantive and procedural issues under Polish law
  • Assist in preparation for court hearings and attend hearings before sądy powszechne
  • Support senior lawyers on international arbitration cases (ICC, SCC)
  • Prepare evidence bundles, chronologies, and case summaries
  • Assist with enforcement proceedings and interim measures applications

Requirements

  • Recently qualified adwokat or radca prawny, or final-year aplikant with excellent academic results
  • 0-2 years of post-qualification litigation experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Kodeks postępowania cywilnego and Kodeks cywilny
  • Good understanding of commercial law disputes, including Kodeks spółek handlowych
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills in Polish
  • Good English (B2+); ability to work on English-language arbitration matters
  • Magister prawa from UW, UJ, or equivalent
