Job Description

Jurist – Competition Case Handler

Konkurrence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen (KFST), the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority, headquartered on Carl Jacobsens Vej in Valby, Copenhagen, is seeking a Jurist (legal officer) to join its Competition Division.

You will investigate anti-competitive agreements and abuses of dominant position under the Danish Competition Act (Konkurrenceloven), review merger notifications, and draft enforcement decisions. KFST is an active member of the European Competition Network (ECN) and coordinates with the European Commission on cross-border enforcement.

What You Will Do

  • Investigate competition law infringements under the Konkurrenceloven and Articles 101/102 TFEU
  • Review merger notifications and conduct competitive assessments
  • Prepare dawn raids and coordinate with the Danish police (Politiet) on enforcement
  • Draft decisions for the Danish Competition Council (Konkurrencerådet)
  • Represent KFST at ECN meetings and coordinate with peer authorities
  • Advise on consumer protection matters under the Danish Marketing Practices Act (Markedsføringsloven)

Responsibilities

  • Investigate competition law cases and draft enforcement decisions
  • Review merger notifications and prepare competitive assessments
  • Represent KFST in ECN cooperation and international forums
  • Contribute to policy development and market studies
  • Advise the Competition Council on case outcomes

Requirements

  • Cand.jur. from a Danish university
  • 3-6 years of experience in competition law, EU law, or public administration
  • Knowledge of the Konkurrenceloven, EU competition rules, and merger review procedures
  • Fluent in Danish and English
  • Danish or EU citizenship (public sector requirement)
  • Strong analytical and legal writing skills
