Job Description

Legal Counsel – AML/KYC Compliance

BIL on Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg City is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Compliance department, focusing on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) frameworks.

As a private bank serving high-net-worth clients across Europe and beyond, BIL operates under strict CSSF supervision and the Luxembourg AML Law of 12 November 2004 as amended. You will advise the bank on AML/KYC regulatory compliance, Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) analysis, and sanctions screening obligations.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on AML/KYC regulatory compliance under the Luxembourg AML Law and CSSF Regulation 12-02
  • Review and enhance the bank's client onboarding and ongoing due diligence procedures
  • Analyse and manage Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the CRF (Cellule de Renseignement Financier)
  • Advise on EU and international sanctions screening obligations
  • Prepare for and support CSSF on-site inspections and audits related to AML compliance

Responsibilities

  • Advise the bank on AML/KYC legal and regulatory requirements
  • Review and improve client due diligence and onboarding processes
  • Manage STR analysis and reporting to the CRF
  • Support CSSF inspections and implement remedial actions
  • Train business teams on AML/KYC obligations and sanctions awareness

Requirements

  • Master in Law from a recognised European university
  • 3-6 years of experience in AML/KYC compliance in the Luxembourg financial sector
  • Knowledge of the Luxembourg AML Law, CSSF Regulation 12-02, and AMLD VI
  • CAMS certification or equivalent AML qualification preferred
  • Fluent in English and French; German is a strong advantage for DACH client base
  • Experience with CSSF supervisory processes and on-site inspections
