Job Description

Legal Counsel – Competition & International Trade

ArcelorMittal at its Luxembourg City headquarters is seeking a Legal Counsel to advise on EU and global competition law matters, international trade defence proceedings, and sanctions compliance for the world's largest steel company.

The steel industry is subject to intense EU competition scrutiny and trade defence measures. You will handle antitrust investigations, merger control filings, and anti-dumping/countervailing duty proceedings before the European Commission and WTO.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on EU and global competition law compliance including merger filings
  • Manage antitrust investigations and cartel proceedings
  • Advise on EU anti-dumping and safeguard measures affecting steel imports
  • Support WTO trade dispute proceedings related to the steel sector
  • Advise on international sanctions compliance and export controls

Responsibilities

  • Advise on competition law compliance across the group's global operations
  • Manage merger control filings and antitrust investigations
  • Handle trade defence proceedings and coordinate with industry associations
  • Advise on sanctions screening and export control compliance
  • Train business teams on competition and trade law obligations

Requirements

  • Qualification as a lawyer in Luxembourg or a recognised EU jurisdiction
  • Master in Law; specialisation in EU Competition or Trade Law preferred
  • 4-7 years of experience in competition law, trade law, or a related practice
  • Knowledge of Articles 101/102 TFEU, EU Merger Regulation, and trade defence instruments
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Experience in the industrial, mining, or materials sector is an advantage
