Job Description
Legal Counsel — Corporate & Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda
Stanbic Bank Uganda, the country's largest commercial bank by assets and a subsidiary of Standard Bank Group, is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its Corporate and Investment Banking division. The role involves providing legal support for lending transactions, trade finance, and corporate advisory services.

Responsibilities
- Provide legal support for corporate and commercial lending transactions
- Draft and review loan facility agreements, guarantee instruments, and security documentation
- Advise on regulatory compliance with Bank of Uganda and other regulators
- Manage the bank's litigation portfolio and instruct external counsel
- Advise on anti-money laundering and KYC compliance
- Support trade finance and documentary credit transactions
- Provide legal input for new product development and approval
Requirements
- LLB degree from a recognized university
- Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre
- Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda
- 4-6 years of post-qualification experience in banking law, corporate law, or in-house legal practice
- Experience in lending transactions, security documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of the Financial Institutions Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, and Bank of Uganda regulations
