Job Description

OTP Banka Slovenija, part of OTP Group — one of the largest banking groups in Central and Eastern Europe — is seeking a Legal Officer for our Retail Banking division in Maribor. You will provide day-to-day legal support for consumer lending, mortgage products, payment services, and regulatory compliance across our Slovenian branch network.

The role involves advising on the Zakon o potrošniških kreditih (ZPotK-2, Consumer Credit Act), Zakon o varstvu potrošnikov (ZVPot-1, Consumer Protection Act), and Zakon o plačilnih storitvah, storitvah izdajanja elektronskega denarja in plačilnih sistemih (ZPlaSSIED, Payment Services Act). Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest city, is an important regional banking center.

Responsibilities

Draft and review consumer loan agreements, mortgage contracts, and general terms and conditions. Advise on compliance with ZPotK-2 and ZVPot-1 for retail banking products. Support product development by providing legal assessments of new consumer banking offerings. Handle consumer complaints and disputes, including mediation before the Banka Slovenije izravnalni organ (Dispute Resolution Body). Monitor regulatory changes affecting retail banking in Slovenia and the EU.

Requirements

Magister prava from a recognized university. 2-4 years of experience in banking, consumer protection, or commercial law. Knowledge of ZPotK-2 (Consumer Credit Act) and ZVPot-1 (Consumer Protection Act). Understanding of EU consumer credit and payment services directives. Fluent in Slovenian and English.
