The role
The New York office of Clifford Chance has an opening for an Asset Finance associate attorney in the firm’s Debt Finance Group. Admission to the New York bar is required. Preferred class years 2017-2021. Submissions must include a resume and law school transcript(s).
We advise lessors, financiers, banks, funds, manufacturers, operators and investors on asset finance across aviation, shipping, rail and other movable, high-value assets. This includes secured lending, operating and finance leases, sale and leaseback, export credit and other structured financings. Our work covers structuring, security and enforcement, documentation, closings, portfolio acquisitions and disposals, and restructurings.
Your experience
The ideal applicant will possess the following qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school, or a foreign law degree with a U.S. LL.M. from an accredited law school.
- High academic achievement.
- Meaningful experience advising lenders, lessors, investors, underwriters, or sponsors on cross-border asset finance transactions.
- Substantial experience in aviation and other transportation finance, including aircraft and high‑value equipment financings.
- Experience with a broad range of transaction types, including operating and finance leases, secured lending, leveraged leasing, portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, restructurings, and asset-backed or structured finance transactions (including EETCs).
- Familiarity with export credit agency (ECA)-supported financings, ABS, and other innovative or complex financing structures.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and project-management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strong client-service orientation, and ability to work effectively in team-based, cross-border matters.
- Admitted to (or eligible to waive into) the New York Bar.
- Prior experience at a peer Am Law or international law firm.
Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. Subject to the candidate's experience, the salary range for this role is $365,000-$435,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
