Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Privacy Compliance Consultant - Children’s Data Compliance based in United States.

This role focuses on evaluating digital products through a privacy and compliance lens, with a strong emphasis on children’s data protection and emerging age-appropriate design regulations. You will assess how web and mobile applications collect, process, store, and share user data, ensuring alignment with evolving U.S. state privacy laws and frameworks such as COPPA and Age-Appropriate Design Code requirements. The position involves conducting independent privacy assessments, identifying compliance gaps, and translating regulatory obligations into clear, actionable recommendations. You will work on project-based consulting engagements, producing structured audit reports that help organizations strengthen privacy practices and reduce regulatory risk. This role is ideal for a privacy professional who enjoys deep analytical work, regulatory interpretation, and hands-on evaluation of digital systems. It offers the opportunity to contribute to safer digital experiences for minors in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

Accountabilities:

    • Conduct independent privacy assessments of web and mobile applications, focusing on how personal data—especially children’s data—is collected, used, stored, and shared.
    • Perform Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA), documenting findings in structured, audit-ready reports.
    • Analyze end-to-end data flows and lifecycle management practices to identify privacy risks, gaps, and non-compliance areas.
    • Evaluate consent mechanisms, age verification processes, data minimization practices, and transparency controls across digital products.
    • Assess alignment with COPPA, FTC guidelines, and U.S. state privacy laws, including emerging children’s privacy regulations.
    • Provide clear, actionable recommendations to improve privacy compliance and strengthen data protection practices.
    • Translate complex regulatory requirements into practical insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Requirements:

      • Proven experience in privacy compliance, data protection, or related regulatory assessment roles.
      • Strong knowledge of children’s privacy regulations, including COPPA, FTC privacy rules, and U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., CPRA or equivalents).
      • Hands-on experience conducting PIAs, DPIAs, or similar privacy audits in digital environments.
      • Solid understanding of data flows, data lifecycle management, and user data handling in web and mobile applications.
      • Experience evaluating consumer-facing platforms, including apps and websites with privacy controls and consent mechanisms.
      • Ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and translate them into practical compliance findings and recommendations.
      • Background in GRC, cybersecurity, or product compliance is highly valued.
      • Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CISM, or similar are a plus.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive consulting compensation ranging from $50–$85 per hour (1099 or Corp-to-Corp).
        • Flexible, part-time engagement with project-based assignments.
        • Remote work with adaptable hours based on project needs.
        • Opportunity to contribute to high-impact privacy assessments focused on protecting children’s digital experiences.
        • Exposure to evolving regulatory frameworks in U.S. privacy law and age-appropriate design standards.
        • Engagement with federal and commercial compliance-driven initiatives.
        • Independent consulting arrangement with autonomy over workflow and execution.
