Job Description
IRA Kenya seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to advise on insurance sector regulation, policyholder protection, and market conduct supervision. The authority regulates over 50 insurance companies and 30 retirement benefits schemes. This role involves policy development, enforcement actions, and legislative drafting.
Responsibilities
Advise the Commissioner of Insurance on legal and regulatory matters. Draft regulations, guidelines, and circulars. Handle enforcement actions against non-compliant insurers and intermediaries. Represent IRA before the Insurance Tribunal and courts. Review and approve insurance policy wordings for market conduct compliance.
Requirements
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. 7+ years PQE with at least 3 years in insurance law, financial regulation, or related practice. Deep knowledge of the Insurance Act, Retirement Benefits Act, and Anti-Money Laundering Act.
