Given below are two statements, one labelled as Assertion (A) and the other labelled as Reason (R). Assertion (A) : The President of India has the power to grant pardons, reprieves, respites, or remissions of punishment, or to suspend, remit, or commute the sentence of any person convicted of an offence in cases where the punishment is by a Court Martial or where the sentence is death. Reason (R) : This power under Article 72 overrides and completely nullifies the powers of the Governor to commute or remit a death sentence under State law. In the context of the above assertion and reason under Article 72 of the Constitution of India, which one of the following is correct ?
