Andorra is a small civil-law principality where practising lawyers are called advocats and must be registered to appear before Andorran courts. The legal market is small and domestic, centred on private firms in Andorra la Vella serving banking, fiscal, real-estate and corporate clients, alongside public-sector and notarial roles. Catalan is the working language of the courts.
A candidate completes a law degree and the required higher-level (level 4, master's-equivalent) qualification in law recognised by the Government, obtains the certificate of aptitude issued by the Col·legi Oficial d'Advocats d'Andorra, secures government authorisation to practise, and is registered with the Col·legi and admitted to act before Andorran courts. Foreign or foreign-trained candidates must have qualifications recognised under the applicable regulations.

To become a lawyer in Andorra you qualify as an advocat. After a law degree you complete the required higher-level (level 4, master's-equivalent) qualification in law recognised by the Andorran Government. You must then obtain the certificate of aptitude issued by the Col·legi Oficial d'Advocats d'Andorra, which requires meeting its professional requirements, including competence in Andorran law and the Catalan language, and you must not be subject to disqualifying convictions or incompatibilities. After securing government authorisation to practise and registering with the Col·legi, you are admitted to act before Andorran courts. The framework is set by Llei 48/2014, as amended by Llei 10/2023.
The Col·legi Oficial d'Advocats d'Andorra (the official bar association, sometimes abbreviated CAA) regulates and admits advocats, under Llei 48/2014 (as amended by Llei 10/2023) governing the practice of the profession.
