The University of Iowa College of Law has named two professors to endowed chairs and recognised eight faculty members with fellowships, heading into the 2026-27 academic year. The school announced the honors on 6 July 2026. Our congratulations to all who were recognised.

The endowed chairs

Professor Andy Grewal, who joined the Iowa faculty in 2011, was named to the Orville L. and Ermina D. Dykstra Chair in Income Tax Law. His tax scholarship has been cited by courts, the school notes, including by the United States Supreme Court. Professor Diane Lourdes Dick was named the Charles E. Floete Distinguished Chair in Law. Endowed chairs are among the highest honors a law school can give a scholar: funded in perpetuity by a gift, they recognise distinction and free the holder to pursue ambitious work.

The fellows

The school also named six Ferguson Carlson Fellows, Dawn Barker Anderson, Andrew Crouse, Mary Ksobiech, Christopher Liebig, Caroline Sheerin, and June Tai, and two Wagner-Murphy Fellows, Bram Elias, who directs the Immigration Advocacy Clinic, and Daria Fisher-Page, who directs the Community Empowerment Law Project. The two named fellowships honor, respectively, a 1950 Iowa Law graduate and a longtime benefactor, and they support the writing, clinical, and teaching faculty who carry much of a law school's day-to-day work.

Why it matters

Endowed positions and fellowships are how a law school invests in its own people, rewarding the scholars and teachers who define it and giving them the security to do their best work. For a college founded in 1865, and long recognised as the oldest continuously operating law school west of the Mississippi, that continuity is part of the point.
