Legal Internships in Ethiopia 2026

Legal internships in Ethiopia are available at law firms, commercial banks, state enterprises, international organisations and government bodies. Addis Ababa is the centre of opportunity, with most placements concentrated in the capital.

Types of Placements

  • Law Firm Traineeships: 6-12 months with exposure to commercial, real estate and arbitration work.
  • Banking Internships: 3-6 months at Dashen Bank, Awash Bank or CBE legal departments.
  • Government: Attorney General's Office, Ministry of Justice, Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority.
  • International Organisations: UNECA, AU Commission, IOM, UNHCR - highly competitive but well-paid.

Paid vs Unpaid

Most private sector internships include a stipend (8,000-20,000 ETB/month). Government placements may be unpaid. International organisation internships are typically well-compensated.
