As Paralegal / Junior Legal Counsel your responsibilities will include:
- Legal Point of Contact for U.S. Teams: Serve as the first legal contact for our U.S. sales and business teams, supporting them with day-to-day legal questions and contract workflows.
- Contract Review & Drafting: Review, draft, and edit standard commercial agreements (e.g., NDAs, MSAs, DPAs) under U.S. law, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct legal research on U.S. federal and state law topics, including commercial, privacy, employment, and corporate law.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Maintain and manage templates, track contract status, and ensure proper documentation and version control across tools and platforms.
- Policy & Compliance Support: Assist in drafting, updating, and rolling out internal policies and compliance documentation, including conducting risk assessments.
- Cross-Border Legal Collaboration: Work closely with legal colleagues in Germany and other regions to align on templates, workflows, and internal legal standards.
- Legal Operations: Support legal department operations such as approval workflows, digital filing systems, signature processes, and internal reporting.
- External Coordination: Liaise with external counsel, service providers, or vendors as required for specific matters or projects.
- Knowledge Management: Help maintain legal knowledge bases and update internal guidance materials and playbooks to reflect current best practices.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline legal processes, increase automation, and support the scalability of the legal function.
What you will need to succeed in this role:
- Educational Background: A completed legal degree (e.g., LL.B., J.D., or equivalent), graduated in the top 10 % of your class.
- Commercial Law Experience: 2-5 years of experience in US-based lawfirm or legal department with focus on commercial, privacy, and corporate law; basic familiarity with contract law and legal terminology.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders—ideally in a B2B environment where legal, sales, and customer needs intersect.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to reviewing contracts, documentation, and legal processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Strong Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and professionally across teams and with external partners—both in writing and verbally.
- Organizational Talent: Strong ability to manage multiple requests, track documents, and maintain well-structured filing and contract systems.
- Proactive & Independent Work Ethic: Comfortable handling standard legal tasks independently and knowing when to escalate more complex issues.
- Collaboration Skills: Willingness and ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams across different geographies and time zones.
- Discretion & Integrity: High level of professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive legal matters and business information.
- Curiosity & Growth Mindset: Eagerness to learn about new legal topics, improve processes, and support a fast-growing legal function.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus, but not required.
$50,000 - $80,000 a year
This salary range may include base and variable compensations as well as share allocations (if any) and span several career levels at vivenu and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits for this role may include a performance bonus.
