Banco de Guatemala (Banguat) is the country's central bank, responsible for monetary policy, price stability, financial system oversight, and the issuance of the Guatemalan Quetzal (GTQ). Headquartered in one of Guatemala City's most iconic Brutalist structures — designed by architects José Montes Córdova and Raúl Minondo — at 7a Avenida 22-01 in the Civic Center of Zona 1, the central bank employs hundreds of economists, analysts, and legal professionals.
