Banco de Mocambique

The central bank of Mozambique, headquartered on Avenida 25 de Setembro in Maputo with branches in Beira and Nampula. Banco de Mocambique is responsible for monetary policy, financial system supervision, foreign exchange regulation, and issuance of the Metical (MZN). Its legal department manages banking legislation, licensing of financial institutions, anti-money laundering enforcement, payment systems regulation, and currency controls. The institution plays a critical role in regulating Mozambique's rapidly evolving financial sector driven by LNG revenues.
