About Central Bank of Oman
The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) is the monetary authority of the Sultanate, headquartered in the Ruwi financial district of Muscat. Established by Royal Decree 114/2000, the CBO regulates commercial and Islamic banks, manages monetary policy, and oversees the payment systems infrastructure. The CBO's legal department handles banking regulations, anti-money laundering compliance, fintech licensing, and enforcement of the Banking Law and its amendments.
