The CMVM (Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários) is Portugal's independent securities market regulator, headquartered on Rua Laura Alves in Lisbon's Praça de Espanha area. Established under the Código dos Valores Mobiliários (CVM), the CMVM supervises Euronext Lisbon, listed companies, investment firms, collective investment undertakings, and market conduct. Its legal professionals review prospectuses, investigate market abuse (insider trading and market manipulation) under the CVM and EU MAR, enforce investor protection rules, and represent the CMVM before Portuguese courts and coordinate with ESMA.
