The Commercial Bank (CBQ) is one of Qatar's oldest and largest private-sector commercial banks, headquartered on Al Corniche Street in Doha. The bank's Legal and Compliance Division oversees all legal matters including credit documentation, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance with Qatar Central Bank regulations, and corporate governance. CBQ's legal team handles conventional and Islamic banking products, real estate financing for The Pearl-Qatar and Lusail developments, trade finance for Qatar's energy exports, and employment law matters. The division works closely with external counsel on complex litigation before Qatar's Court of First Instance and Court of Appeal, and manages the bank's anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance programme.
