About HANFA — Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency
HANFA (Hrvatska agencija za nadzor financijskih usluga) is Croatia's independent financial services supervisory authority, located at Franje Račkoga 6 in Zagreb's Donji Grad district near the Croatian National Theatre and the Zrinjevac park. HANFA supervises the non-banking financial sector including insurance companies, pension funds, investment funds, leasing companies, factoring companies, and the Zagreb Stock Exchange (Zagrebačka burza). With approximately 120 staff including pravnici (lawyers) and regulatory specialists, HANFA enforces the Zakon o tržištu kapitala (Capital Markets Act), Zakon o osiguranju (Insurance Act), Zakon o mirovinskim fondovima (Pension Funds Act), and Zakon o investicijskim fondovima (Investment Funds Act), as well as EU financial regulations including MiFID II, Solvency II, UCITS, AIFMD, and SFDR. HANFA works closely with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) as a member of the European System of Financial Supervision.
