About Konkurencijos taryba
Konkurencijos taryba (Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania) is the national competition enforcement authority, headquartered at Jogailos g. 2 in Vilnius's Senamiestis (Old Town), near the Presidential Palace and the Vilnius District Court. Established under the Konkurencijos įstatymas (Competition Act), the Council employs approximately 80 teisininkai and competition specialists who enforce Lithuanian and EU competition law, including prohibition of anti-competitive agreements and cartels, abuse of dominant position, merger control, and oversight of unfair commercial practices. As a member of the European Competition Network (ECN), Konkurencijos taryba cooperates closely with the European Commission under Regulation 1/2003, participating in parallel investigations and applying both Lithuanian and EU competition rules. The legal team conducts dawn raids, issues prohibition decisions, imposes fines of up to 10% of annual turnover, negotiates commitments, and represents the Council before the Vilniaus apygardos administracinis teismas (Vilnius Regional Administrative Court), the Lietuvos vyriausiasis administracinis teismas (Supreme Administrative Court), and the EU General Court in Luxembourg. The Council also reviews state aid measures and enforces the Law on Prohibition of Unfair Business-to-Business Commercial Practices.
