About Latvenergo
Latvenergo AS is Latvia's largest energy company and the biggest power supplier in the Baltic states, wholly state-owned with all shares held by the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia, headquartered at Pulkveza Brieza iela 12 in Riga's Centrs district near the Riga Circus and the city canal. The Latvenergo Group employs approximately 3,500 people across its subsidiaries and operates in electricity and thermal energy generation, electricity distribution (through subsidiary Sadales tikls AS), and energy trading across the Baltic market. The in-house legal and regulatory affairs department manages a complex regulatory landscape including the Elektroenergijas tirgus likums (Electricity Market Law), Energetikas likums (Energy Law), EU energy directives including the Clean Energy Package, environmental compliance under Latvian and EU law, public procurement under the Publisko iepirkumu likums (Public Procurement Law), state aid rules, competition law, employment law for a large industrial workforce, and corporate governance requirements for state-owned enterprises under the Publiskas personas kapitalsabiedribu un kapitala dalu parvaldes likums (Law on Governance of Capital Shares of a Public Person). Latvenergo operates the Daugava hydroelectric cascade, Latvia's most significant renewable energy infrastructure.
