About National Bank of Cambodia
The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) is the Kingdom's central bank and monetary authority, established in 1954 following independence from France and re-established in 1979. Located in Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, the NBC determines and directs monetary policy to maintain price stability, regulates all banks and financial institutions, manages foreign exchange policy, and controls the national currency, the Cambodian Riel (KHR). The bank's legal and regulatory division drafts banking regulations, enforces prudential standards, and supervises anti-money laundering compliance across Cambodia's financial system.
