Sonatrach Legal Department

Sonatrach is Algeria's national oil and gas company and the largest company in Africa by revenue. As the backbone of Algeria's economy, Sonatrach operates across the entire hydrocarbon value chain — exploration, production, refining, transportation, and marketing. The Legal Department of Sonatrach manages an enormous portfolio of domestic and international contracts, joint venture agreements, upstream and downstream regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution proceedings. Legal professionals at Sonatrach work on some of the most significant energy transactions in North Africa, including production-sharing agreements, LNG export contracts, and international arbitration cases. The department collaborates closely with international law firms and offers exposure to both Algerian hydrocarbons law (Loi n°19-13 sur les hydrocarbures) and international energy law frameworks.
