Swedbank Latvia

Swedbank Latvia (Swedbank AS) is the largest bank in Latvia by market share, headquartered at Balasta dambis 15 in Riga's Agenskalns district on the left bank of the Daugava river. A subsidiary of the Swedish Swedbank AB group, the Latvian operations employ approximately 2,500 people and serve over one million retail and corporate clients, making it the most widely used bank in the country with the largest branch network. Swedbank Latvia's legal and compliance division handles the full spectrum of banking regulation under Krediitiestaazu likums (Credit Institutions Law), consumer lending under the Civillikums (Civil Law) and Pateretaju tiesibu aizsardzibas likums (Consumer Rights Protection Law), AML/KYC compliance under Noziegigi iegutu lidzeklu legalizacijas un terorisma un proliferacijas finansesanas noversanas likums (AML/CFT Law), securities regulation, payment services under PSD2, and mortgage lending under the Latvian real estate framework. The bank operates under supervision of Latvijas Banka (which absorbed the former FKTK financial regulator on 1 January 2023) and the European Central Bank through the Single Supervisory Mechanism.
