Union Attorney General's Office

The Union Attorney General's Office (UAGO) is the principal legal institution of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, headquartered in the capital city of Naypyidaw. Established under the 2008 Constitution, the UAGO serves as the chief legal advisor to the Union Government, drafts legislation for the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (Union Parliament), and represents the state in civil litigation before the Union Supreme Court and all levels of the Myanmar judiciary. The office oversees the administration of justice at the union, region, and state levels, manages international legal cooperation agreements, and coordinates with ASEAN legal bodies. Legal officers at the UAGO work on constitutional law, international treaties, bilateral investment treaties, and legislative drafting across all sectors of government policy.
