Zagrebačka banka (ZABA) is Croatia's largest bank by total assets and market share, headquartered at Trg bana Josipa Jelačića 10 in the heart of Zagreb's historic main square. A subsidiary of Milan-based UniCredit Group since 2002, the bank employs approximately 4,400 staff across its extensive branch network throughout Croatia. Zagrebačka banka's legal and compliance division is one of the largest in-house legal teams in Croatian banking, handling banking regulation under the Zakon o kreditnim institucijama (Credit Institutions Act) and supervision by the Croatian National Bank (Hrvatska narodna banka — HNB), capital adequacy under CRD/CRR, AML/CFT compliance under the Zakon o sprječavanju pranja novca i financiranja terorizma (Anti-Money Laundering Act), consumer lending under the Zakon o potrošačkom kreditiranju, GDPR data protection, and EU financial regulations including MiFID II and PSD2. The bank is listed on the Zagrebačka burza and is subject to ECB supervision under the Single Supervisory Mechanism.
