Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 for the Center for Constitutional Law and the Judicial Studies Program. The position will provide administrative and operational support to the Deputy Director of the Center for Constitutional Law and the Director of the Judicial Studies Program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising of staff and a student worker

  • Monitoring the budget and finances, and managing grants

  • Dealing in student relations

  • Coordinate travel logistics for visiting scholars, judges, guest speakers

  • Performing all HR operations

  • Assisting with the management and administration of the justice management degree program

  • Provide administrative and program support for the Center for Constitutional Law, including public lectures, conferences, teacher institutes, tabling/outreach events and other Center-sponsored programs

  • Coordinate Center event and program logistics, including registrations, scheduling, visiting speaker arrangements, communications, meeting and event materials, records and databases and related purchasing and fiscal transactions

  • Process Center purchasing and accounting transactions through Workday, including purchasing, invoices, reimbursements, PCard documentation and other fiscal processing.

  • Assist with grant-related administrative and reporting documentation

  • Assist with Center communications and administrative operations, including calendars, correspondence, website updates, newsletters and announcements, and coordination with faculty, speakers, students, donors and external partners

  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR

  • One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience in finances, project management, student support, and/or MS Office are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 29

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.

The Judicial Studies Graduate Degree Program at the University of Nevada, Reno is uniquely positioned at the forefront of judicial education in our nation and we are pleased to offer two concentration options for a Master of Judicial Studies (MJS) degree as well as Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Judicial Studies. Officially established in 1986, this highly successful and one-of-a-kind program continues to have a substantial impact on the field of judicial education and justice studies.
