Join MUFG as an Assistant Vice President in Compliance and play a meaningful role in shaping how we engage with regulators, manage regulatory change and uphold the highest standards of governance across our corporate banking business. Working closely with the Head of Compliance and the
Regulatory Relationship team, you will gain exposure to senior stakeholders, regional and head office interactions, and a broad range of regulatory matters that are central to maintaining MUFG’s trusted position in the financial industry.
What you will do:
1. Act as a key point of coordination for engagement with regulatory authorities, working with internal stakeholders to prepare clear, timely and well-governed responses to regulatory enquiries.
2. Stay close to evolving regulatory developments and consultations, helping translate key updates into practical insights for Management and relevant stakeholders.
3. Support the regulatory change management cycle and contribute to keeping MUFG aligned with new requirements, industry expectations and best practices.
4. Partner with stakeholder departments to monitor follow-up actions arising from regulatory updates and help drive timely completion.
5. Take ownership of regulatory reporting and filings, including matters relating to licensing and the senior management regime.
6. Support compliance audits and regulatory inspections, including the development of practical action plans and the timely remediation of findings.
7. Provide trusted guidance to business teams and support functions on internal controls, workflows and processes in line with regulatory requirements and guidance.
8. Prepare clear management reports on regulatory developments and compliance status, and support reporting to Regional Office, Head Office and Management on key regulatory matters.
9. Contribute to ad hoc compliance projects and initiatives that strengthen the department’s effectiveness and regulatory engagement capability.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of industry experience, ideally gained in corporate or commercial banking within Compliance or Risk.
Good knowledge of corporate banking products and Hong Kong banking regulations, with a keen interest in regulatory developments.
Familiarity with the SFC Code of Conduct and licensing requirements.
Prior experience liaising with Hong Kong regulators would be an advantage.
Excellent written and spoken English.
A collaborative, proactive and self-motivated working style, with the confidence to work independently when needed.
Strong analytical skills and sound judgement, particularly when navigating complex matters where specific guidance may not be available.
Clear communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders professionally and confidently.
