ATTORNEY
Enforcement Division

Investor protection through the administration and enforcement of Oklahoma securities laws.

The Oklahoma Department of Securities is seeking an attorney to join its Enforcement Division.

This position offers the opportunity to investigate complex financial misconduct, analyze legal and factual issues, and develop enforcement strategies, all in an effort to help protect Oklahoma investors from fraud and illegal securities activity.

Working at the intersection of law, finance, investigations, and public service, attorneys play a key role in enforcing Oklahoma securities laws and maintaining confidence in the state's financial markets.

The selected candidate will be appointed at a level commensurate with qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO

As an Attorney with the Enforcement Division, you will:

  • Investigate potential violations of Oklahoma securities laws.
  • Analyze legal, factual, financial, and investigative information.
  • Evaluate evidence and develop recommendations regarding enforcement actions and case strategy.
  • Identify trends, relationships, and patterns within complex information and data.
    Interview witnesses and participate in taking testimony and depositions.
  • Prepare subpoenas, pleadings, briefs, legal memoranda, legal opinions, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Advise Department leadership regarding legal issues and enforcement matters.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Department staff, financial professionals, law enforcement agencies, regulatory partners, and members of the public.
  • Participate in administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings when necessary.
  • Manage assigned investigations and enforcement matters through resolution.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Occasional job-related travel may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association in good standing.

Additional qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise will determine the level at which the successful candidate is appointed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Civil, administrative, or regulatory law
  • Government or public sector legal practice
  • Financial fraud investigations
  • Securities, banking, insurance, or consumer protection matters
  • Witness interviews and depositions
  • Analysis of financial records and complex documentary evidence
  • Trial and Appellate practice
  • Complex investigations and case management
