As a Tax Compliance Manager at OCBC, you will play a critical role in ensuring the bank's compliance with client tax regulatory requirements, i.e. FATCA, CRS and QI. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of banking and regulation, and to contribute to the bank's reputation for integrity and compliance.

How you succeed

This is a highly specialized advisory role requiring extensive expertise in Client Tax Regulations (FATCA/CRS/QI), coupled with an understanding of regulatory (international and local) requirements/expectations on client tax risk assessment and controls. The individual will be expected to independently provide advisory on client tax regulations, provide clear guidance on key projects relating to FATCA/CRS/QI within the bank and influence decision-making across a wide range of senior stakeholders. The role will also require regular engagement with senior management, regulators, auditors, external industry participants and cross-functional stakeholders across the Bank.

What you do
  • Provide tax advisory support on Client Tax Regulations (FATCA, CRS and QI).

  • Participation in the Bank’s major projects and initiatives.

  • Support to maintain an effective global client tax compliance programme and review client tax compliance policies and procedures/controls.

  • Maintain and enhance FATCA/CRS/QI compliance programme.

  • Monitor and assess Client Tax Regulations changes, emerging risks / typologies and global trends impacting the Bank, communicate any changes to stakeholders for compliance and disseminate the updated policy and procedures.

  • Conduct training for staff to raise their tax risk awareness and familiarity with the bank’s policies, procedures, guidelines and risk appetite; and to ensure more robust execution of controls by staff to mitigate client tax and AML tax risks.

  • Act as point of contact and liaise with IRAS, MAS or other regulatory agencies as directed by the Head Tax Compliance.

Who you are
  • Degree with minimum 3 - 5 years of tax compliance experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of regulatory (international and local) requirements/expectations on client tax risk assessment and controls.

  • Strong understanding of FATCA, CRS and QI are required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to learn and upgrade new skills and knowledge.

  • Meticulous, highly organized and structured.
