THE ROLE

The Compliance Lead Specialist is responsible for the design and implementation of key components of the compliance monitoring program, including forensic testing and data analysis procedures. Reporting directly to the Compliance Officer, the role works closely with Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and business unit stakeholders to develop and execute monitoring procedures, assess results, and establish and track action plans to address identified issues. The role is also responsible for preparing periodic management reports that summarize monitoring activities, procedures performed, results, and related observations.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

MONITORING:

  • Provide direction and support for MFS' employees to ensure that MFS' policies and procedures are understood and implemented effectively.
  • compliance review and monitoring to ensure all marketing materials meet internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage assigned business partner relationships by attending status meetings, responding to questions,communicatingcompliancerequirements,anddeliveringonstatedreviewturnarounds and standards.
  • and draft new guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain and periodically review compliance policies, procedures, and governance materials to ensure they remain current, practical, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
  • Handle, prepare, and assist with audit requests and examinations, including coordinating responses and supporting related documentation during the audit process.
  • Assess regulatory developments impacting the asset management business and support implementation of related policy, procedure, monitoring, training, or control enhancements.
  • Conduct risk-based compliance reviews and control testing, document findings clearly, and support remediation of identified control gaps.
  • Coordinate with regional and global Compliance colleagues to support consistent application of compliance standards across jurisdictions and business activities.
  • Independently manage assigned projects on behalf of the Compliance Team

TRAINING:

  • Provide compliance-related training to personnel related to areas of responsibility.
  • Educate and inform assigned business partners as necessary as to required revisions, new MFS policies, new regulations, etc. which impact the business’ compliance materials and plans

REPORTING:

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of tools and processes to support management and analytical reporting by designing and maintaining reports and procedures that support the compliance programs.
  • Prepare periodic management status reports or presentations on and respond to questions regarding compliance program activities and results.
  • Analyze monitoring results, issue trends, and compliance metrics to identify emerging risks and inform management reporting.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  •      Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 
  •      Relevant work experience with related investment management, audit, financial services or related industry experience.
  •      Excellent organization, presentation, problem-solving and communication (verbal and written) skills with strong attention to detail. 
  •      Strong partnership skills and the ability to collaborate with business units across MFS.
  •      Good business judgement and the ability to handle challenges while maintaining a professional approach to problem solving. 
  •      Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in identifying opportunities, addressing issues proactively, and driving assigned responsibilities through completion.
  •      Ability to take ownership of projects and work independently with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
  •      Able to effectively drive solutions throughout the organization and present ideas in a clear and concise way. Escalate issues and advocate for solutions.
  •      Keen understanding of fund management operations, practices, procedures, and controls.
  •      Strong presentation skills. Must be able to present comfortably before small to mid-size groups.
  •      Prior experience working in the financial services industry preferred.
  •      Knowledge and familiarity in assessing and implementation of regulations in relevant jurisdictions is an advantage.
