Job Description:

Compliance Specialist/12mo Temporary Assignment

The Lincoln Regional Center is seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Compliance Specialist to support facility operations by conducting investigations, monitoring regulatory compliance, providing staff training, and assisting with quality improvement initiatives. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for ensuring patient/client treatment activities comply with applicable federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and facility policies.

This is a temporary assignment and is not eligible for paid time off, health insurance, retirement, or other employee benefits.


 

The Compliance Specialist will be conducting internal investigations involving incidents such as:

  • Abuse and neglect allegations
  • Peer-to-peer aggression resulting in injury
  • Peer-to-peer sexual contact
  • Medication variances
  • Suspicious injuries of unknown origin
  • Elopements
  • Patient/client deaths
  • Assist in the collection and preservation of evidence, interviewing witnesses and involved parties, reviewing records, and obtaining written statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of comprehensive investigative reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate investigative records, evidence, and documentation.
  • Assist with observing patient/client treatment activities to identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and audits to ensure adherence to federal, state, accreditation, and facility standards.
  • Prepare audit reports and provide recommendations to Compliance Coordinator.
  • Serve as a resource to staff regarding interpretation and application of regulations and facility policies, including topics such as restraint and seclusion, room searches, and near-miss events.
  • Conduct mock surveys to evaluate readiness for regulatory inspections.
  • Analyze trends, identify patterns in compliance and staff performance, and prepare reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a human services related field and experience with investigations, data or trend analysis or related area.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting investigations in a healthcare, behavioral health, human services, or regulatory compliance environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations, accreditation standards (such as CMS or The Joint Commission), and quality assurance/compliance practices.
  • Experience developing and delivering staff training, conducting audits, and analyzing data or trends to identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.

Wage is $20.933 plus $3 Facility Differential Pay.


Hours: Mostly 1st shift, Monday through Friday.  But Compliance Specialist rotate weekends.   When scheduled to work during the weekend, you would be off two days during the week.  Also, can be required to work on 2nd and 3rd shifts to cover based on needs.


 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of investigative methods, evidence collection, interviewing techniques, and report writing.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify trends and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present training and educate staff effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
